concept
Lodged in the hills of City Creek Canyon, the Salt Lake Water Complex is a continuation of the abutting topography with its stacked and low-profile forms. A series of layered planes within the interiors build a sense of continuity in and throughout the complex. This focal point of the community implements the aesthetic role of water and light into the design. Visitors begin to understand water's impacts on the surrounding metropolitan area via engaging and unconventional learning spaces. The architecture considers opacity and transparency through carefully positioned glazing and solid mass. Changing light conditions provide various experiences throughout the day. This Ecospace celebrates the circulation of water, which connects to the way visitors circulate on site.
